Marilyn goes Dancing

Once again the school is having a dance and everyone knows what that means. Daughter's gotta have a new dress! Grandma had the forethought to supply one at Christmas so the pain and drama of actually having to find and buy was substantially reduced.

Now I thought that a Sadie Hawkins dance was for dressing up like a hillbilly from the Lil Abner genre of attire, but I've been corrected. Apparently gunny sacks, rope belts, and hair ribbons don't cut it any more. So what could be more appropriate than wearing the fashion that Marilyn Monroe made famous.

Jaimie met up with friends prior to leaving for the dance, and after hours of primping, preening, and hair curling they were finally ready to be seen in public. Wow! The results weren't bad at all. Daisy May would be proud.

Car Update

As you recall our 1999 Nissan Altima came to an untimely demise back before Christmas. There had been talk of replacing it anyway so given that there was now no option that plan got moved up. Cathy is very happy with her new Prius and thought it was about time to show it off. It seems to run pretty good but it's not exactly a powerhouse. So far she's getting about 42 mpg, which isn't bad, but other folks we know have been getting about 50 so were are kind of wondering about that.

We have also been having an ongoing problem with storage in the back of the pickup. I didn't like the shell we had on the old GMC 3/4 ton as it was pretty hard to swap on and off with two people. Leaving it open makes it hard to protect gear from the elements on trips, and is kind of a security problem so I went looking for another option. The solution was to put on a lockable tonneau cover. It's light enough that Cathy can help me remove it, and it looks pretty good too.
