Backyard Elk

One of the benefits of living in the foothills is that elk frequently pass through our neighborhood.
We see them walking down the street, eating bushes in the neighbors front yards, and congregating in the kids park next to the swingset. This group was passing behind our house in the open space.

3/18/06 Weekend

We skied with our friends the Resers up at Keystone this weekend. They had a condo so we went up Friday, skied Saturday, and came back Sunday morning to miss the traffic. The weather forcast was for 18" of snow in Golden but they missed that prediction by quite a bit. We got maybe 3-4".

Hawaii Trip - Jan '06

We like to get an exotic trip in ocasionally. Last new years we spent 10 days on Kauai. Unfortunately, it was rainy and very cool most of time. The seas were so rough that we didn't get any diving in or much snorkeling either. Here's a couple of shots of the girls; getting ready for the Luau , and hiking the Napali coast.

Summer Backpack July '05

Some of these enters are going to be retro in the timeline sense because I just started this site. We have and annual backpack trip on the 4th of July each year with the Resers. Jaimie and I are shown along the trail in the Flattops Wilderness of the White River National Forest. This was summer of '05.

Through no fault of my own I've become the "poster boy" lately for NREL. Seems like my lab is a convenient place for the media to visit when they want a photo to go along with some filler piece they are doing on the lab. We've had a lot of publicity lately due to the budget cut ($28M), President Bush's visit, and then the reinstatement of the layoff victoms. Check this out. My picture is at the bottom of the article. I also made it into the Boulder Camera.

Spring Owls

Last spring I had some owls nesting in the tree outside my office. These were the babies.
