Fishing = Thinking ?

People (meaning Cathy) ask why I ice fish (especially since I haven't caught anything in two winters) so I thought I would offer these comparitive photos in lue of an explicit explanation.

I'm sure Uncle Rodin would be proud of this analogy.

Aussie Campout Weekend

As it was while the Aussie kids were here, the Australians have a huge number of exchange program activities for the American kids down there. The last weekend was the Aussie campout. Looks like they put up a pretty good tent-city, and had a great time with various activities including the tradition wheelbarrow race. Not sure what this was all about??....must be the latest in Aussie beach wear. I guess the weather gods were still anger 'cause they had a huge downpour that pretty much keep everyone confined to quarters for a good part of the weekend.

Queensland Trip

The kids had such a good time fishing on Hamilton Island that Andrew decided to take Jess and Jaimie up to Queensland on private fishing trip with his friend. Andrew drove up early to do some work, the girls flew up later in the week to meet him. As luck would have it the weather turned on them, and the seas were a bit rough. With a relatively small boat, and 2 meter swells creating a rollercoaster ride it wasn't long before Jaimie was down for the count. Jaimie begged to return to dock, but everytime she put her head down the hardcore sailors made another pass with the lines out. I guess Jaimie finally noticed that they weren't getting any closer to shore, and managed to stay awake long enough to force them to head in. To add insult to injury they didn't even catch any fish (dispite Jaimies constant attempts at chumming).

Back on dry land they visited an amusement park (Jaimie avoided the rollercoaster), and spent some time with Andrews friends. Jaim found a friendly red healer to play with. In the end it was an epic 12 hour drive back home crammed into the single seater truck.
