Implant Month

Guess it's about time to put something on here again so let's talk about medical procedures. January was indeed surgery month at the King's.
For the seventh time I was back on the table for eye surgery. This was the result of complication's from previous cataract surgery. The second set of lens implants have been chaffing on my iris's for the last year causing pressure problems, inflammation, and excruciating headaches. Last June the left eye was operated on to correct this problem and seems to have actually worked pretty well. The headaches were persisting on the right side of my head so it was decided to do the right side this month. Hopefully this will be the last eye cutting for a while.
We were quite surprised several years ago when the dentist told us that Jaimie had a missing tooth. At first glance they appeared to all be there but after it was pointed out there clearly was one missing. Since then the orthodontist was enlisted to make a gap where the tooth should go, and then a waiting game began for Jaimie's growth to stop so that a permanent implant could be put in. This year it was finally concluded that Jaimie had stop growing, so it was off to the periodontist for the initial surgery. Nothing is every simple so the procedure requires the implantation of a threaded insert in the jaw. This is allowed to heal into the bone for a period of time, then the incision is reopened to expose the insert. Next it is off to the dentist for the implantation of a post and abutment, and finally a false tooth on top. I argued to post Jaimie's before and after pictures of this process, but she strenuously objected and under the threat of painful duress I have been forced to withhold them.
Sorry!
